Demo |
There are two methods to demo the neosecure system.
The first is a graphical walk-through of how the system works that you will
find on the remainder of this page.
The second is to download the small (1385K)
neosecuredemo.exe
file. Once installed, it is imperative that you print the
first page of instructions within the program before proceeding with the
real-time, client-side demonstration as it will walk you through all aspects
of a NeoSecure protected product including what happens when a serial
number has been disabled.
Even if you plan to download the real-time demo, it
would be beneficial to review the content below so you are familiar with
what you will be seeing in real-time with the client-side demo.
The NeoSecure Graphical Walk-Through:
Both the NeoSecure Plug-In and the NeoSecure Shell
have basically the same capabilities and functions. Many of the options covered
below can be deativated if desired.
Step 1: The Installation
Step 2: The Demo / Trial Version Period
Step 3: The Valid Registration
Step 4: Controlling Multiple Registrations
Step 5: Disabling a Specific Copy
Step 6: Your Administrative Access
Step 1: The
Installation
Upon installation of each copy of your NeoSecured
product, you will receive an Email indicating that a copy has been installed.
The message also contains the Remote IP and other unique identifying data.
This notification will be sent immediately upon the first launch of the product
if an active online connection is present. If no connection is present, you
can choose to have NeoSecure wait until one is or to prompt the user to establish
such.
Step 2: The Demo / Trial
Version period
If desired, NeoSecure can be set-up to create a demo
period of a set number of uses of your product before registration becomes
necessary. If this option is used, the end user will see a screen similar
to the one below each time they launch your product. The screen will indicate
exactly how many trial uses are remaining.
STEP 3: The Valid
Registration
As the programmer, you can decide where and when you
want the registration screen to appear and the look and feel of that screen.
We provide you with the specific calls that must be made to our neosecure.exe
and the possible responses that will be returned from our servers. A sample
registration screen is below.
Upon entering a valid serial number / unlock key
combination - clicking on the Register button will send the call to
our servers and a specific response will be sent back. At that time
three things take place.
First, another Email message is sent to you indicating
that a copy of your NeoSecured product has just been unlocked and
registered. This message will contain the same data as the Install
notification along with the serial number / unlock key used to register.
A record of the number of times any or all keys have been used
is recorded on our server and you can view this data via your Admin
Access.
Secondly, upon the appropriate server response, a screen
similar to the one below will appear to the end user:
Finally, NeoSecure provides you a "backdoor" communication
channel into every single installed copy of your software making it possible
for you to trigger a "Latest News Flash" dialog box such as the one shown
below. This box will automatically come up right after initial registration
and continue to appear until the News Flash associated with it has been viewed
(via the default browser). If you wish to trigger the "Latest News Flash"
10 times a day, this can be done through the Admin Access.
Step 4: Controlling Multiple
Registrations
Using the Admin Access we provide, you have the option
and ability to prevent any serial number from being used again to register
a copy of your product.
Upon receipt of the Registration Notification, you
could log onto our NeoSecure server and prevent the serial number from being
used to register additional copies while allowing all copies using that number
to continue to function. Or, you could periodically check your files on our
servers to monitor how many times any given keys have been used and
prevent further use at your descretion.
If an end user tries to use a serial number that
has been coded as above, they will receive a screen similar to the one
below:
Step 5: Disabling
a Specific Copy
Piracy, cracks, hacks, fraud and refunds are well known
to all software and content developers. While no system is completely
hack-proof, NeoSecure offers several distinc advantages over the conventional
methods of software registration.
First, the NeoSecure serial number / unlock key
combinations are not based upon an algorithm that is hard-coded
into the source code of the product thereby allowing a valid or hacked
number to work in all existing copies. Our system is actually very simple,
if any given number/key set is not contained in the appropriate server-side
files - the registration will not be allowed.
Secondly, unlike the above or even a unique machine
identifier / algorithm based system (that is much harder to crack but entails
additional communication between you and the end-user), NeoSecure
gives you the ability to disable any given serial number at will, thereby
shutting down all copies in existance that are using that number.
So, in the event of a refund, fraud or publication
of a valid number/key on a crack newsgroup - or if you see that
a given number has been used more times than you believe appropriate,
you can easily disable that number via the Admin Access.
Once a serial number has been disabled, every installed
copy using that serial number will display a message similar to the one below
the next time the application is launched or makes server-side contact. The
only option provided to the end user is to immediately exit the
program.
Step 6: The Administrative
Access
As a NeoSecure customer, you are provided complete
administrative control over your NeoSecured products via a password
protected, Web-based interface as shown below.
Through this interface, you can monitor the number
of times each number/key has been used, prevent keys from reuse, disable
existing copies, trigger the "Latest News Flash" dialog box and change the
URL where your Latest News page resides.
When ever you update your files using the Admin Access,
our primary server updates not only the local copy of your files but also
the redundant copies on the backup servers that are accessed by
a NeoSecured product in the event the primary server is temporarily
unavailable.
The only thing you can not do through the
Admin Access is add additional serial numbers / unlock keys to your
Master file. This will be done by us as additional NeoSecure Keys
are purchased by you - please see the
Pricing
page.
